WAIT House Relies on Your Support

WAIT House has relied on community support since its beginnings for financial, in-kind, food and goods donations.  The Corona Virus outbreak has created new needs and challenges for WAIT House as we work to keep our residents and staff not only safe & healthy but also entertained during social distancing.

If you’d like to help, please review the guidelines and needs below.  Of course, we are still accepting financial donations and gift cards which go a long way in helping WAIT House support homeless youth in our community.

At this time, WAIT House is operating under “contact-free” standards and is unable to open our doors for visitors so if you would like to make a donation, please drop it off on our porch located at the end of our driveway at 10-12 Wait Street in Glens Falls, NY 12801.  There is a tote on the porch where you can leave your gift.  You may also mail your gift to us at the address above.

If you would like more information or have questions, please contact Erin Coon, Fund Development Coordinator, at (518) 798-4384 x. 101 or ecoon@hycwaithouse.org.

THANK YOU!!

Food & Meals

WAIT House is in need of meals to help feed our residents. We have relationships with local food banks but as these organizations face increased demand due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we are working to subsidize supplies through community donations.

DONATING MEALS

Consider signing up to donate a meal to WAIT House. Please contact Erin Coon, Fund Development Coordinator to let us know if you plan to donate a meal.  ecoon@hycwaithouse.org or 518-879-6233.

Take Out

Due to health concerns WAIT House can only accept food prepared in commercial kitchens.  With the strains currently on local restaurants, we encourage you to consider ordering take out and delivering it to the shelter.  Or, you can give us a call and we’ll go pick it up!

Recipes

WAIT House has two full kitchens for resident use.  We are happy to accept recipes and raw ingredients that our residents can use to prepare their own meals.  Please make sure all packages are unopened and are not expired.

Nonperishable Items

We are always on the look out for nonperishable items.  Cereals, canned goods, pasta, rice and snacks are all welcome.

Fun & Games

Our residents are abiding by social distancing guidelines just like your families.  As you probably know, that can sometimes be pretty boring so WAIT House is looking for activity donations like the ones below.

We ask that donations be either new or in good working order and clean.

  • Basketballs, footballs, soccer balls
  • Board games
  • Puzzles
  • Card games
  • Arts & crafts activities
